BIO

I had the good fortune of having a very fine art teacher in my high school years, who gave me a solid foundation in drawing. From there, I studied photography at the Art Institute of Boston, and then the NH Institute of Art in Manchester, NH, where I gravitated toward clay and three dimentional work.

One of the greatest sources for creativity for me comes from an interactive art group that meets monthly. We create a piece of artwork per month from a challenge that one of the members proposed at the prior meeting. It is an exercise in creativity, and acts as a springboard to new ideas and work, which gets you “out of the box”. Doing these creative exercises has enabled me to find my true voice.

My art studio is located in the lower level of my home with large windows and doors that open to the extensive gardens and woodland paths. The walls and floors of the studio are stacked and displayed with interesting objects that I have scoured from flea markets, yard sales or antique shops, that will someday be incorporated into a piece. I utilize both high fire stoneware as well as low fire clay that I fire in an electric kiln as well as the ancient raku method of firing. I finish the sculptures with glaze, oil paint, acrylic or wax.

RESUME

Art education has been a life long pursuit in developing both my technical ability and personal style. There will always be an artist retreat, workshop, or class that I will want to attend. They are springboards for new ideas, techniques, and inspiration.

After high school I studied photography at the Art Institute of Boston and the New England School of Photography in Boston.

I studied drawing and charcoal under Jeanne LaChance in Manchester before attending the NH Institute of Art, where I focused in sculpture and ceramics.

Through the years I have supplemented my “regular” job as a sales and marketing manager by being a photographer, potter, sign painter, art instructor and sculptor. Having had worked in so many mediums, it has given me a broad outlook toward the use of artist materials. I go by the book of “anything goes”, as long as it holds itself together and is professionally displayed.

My art work is exhibited throughout New England, and is in private collections nationally.
